Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Steelers: B-.

The one they had to fix is still broken. The Steelers left quarterback untouched, and that omission hangs over an otherwise reasonable haul. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

That is a linebacker worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. The Egbuka pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.

They went 3 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Emeka Egbuka
In the Round 1 slot they get a true top target, even if it was a touch early. A real need, handled.
Pick83 Rnd3 Charles Grant
Charles Grant at pick 83 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick123 Rnd4 Smael Mondon Jr.
They read the board right and Smael Mondon Jr. was the payoff at No. 123. The roster fit checks out.
Pick156 Rnd5 Ryan Fitzgerald
They paid up for Ryan Fitzgerald at the 156th pick when waiting would have done the job. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick185 Rnd6 Jaydon Blue
Jaydon Blue slid further than he should have, and Round 6, Pick 9 is lovely value for the running back. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
