Draft Grade — Saints
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Saints kept it disciplined and banked a B-.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Saints reached some 47 spots for Willie Lampkin, and value like that does not grow back.

The Loveland value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through cornerback.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the cornerback spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Shemar Stewart
In slot 9 they get a premier pass rusher at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick40 Rnd2 Colston Loveland
Nice patience on Colston Loveland, who had no business lasting to the 40th pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick71 Rnd3 Darius Alexander
They reached into another round for Darius Alexander, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It fills a real need, too.
Pick93 Rnd3 Danny Stutsman
Danny Stutsman in the 93rd overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick112 Rnd4 Chimere Dike
Nothing to complain about; Chimere Dike went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick131 Rnd4 Willie Lampkin
A big swing on Willie Lampkin at No. 131, well ahead of any board in the building. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick184 Rnd6 Ajani Cornelius
The board had Ajani Cornelius higher than slot 184, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
