The war room fell hard for Gunnar Helm, and it showed at pick No. 63: 27 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas.

They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Hairston at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with tight end chief among the fixes. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
