Draft Grade — Bills
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Bills: B-.

The one they had to fix is still broken. The Bills left linebacker untouched, and that omission hangs over an otherwise reasonable haul. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.

The Peebles pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Golden at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They went 3 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the linebacker spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Matthew Golden
Matthew Golden slid further than he should have, and Round 1, Pick 30 is lovely value for the wide receiver. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick56 Rnd2 Azareye'h Thomas
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Azareye'h Thomas. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick62 Rnd2 Jaylin Noel
A straight-up fair deal on Jaylin Noel at slot 62, value and slot in agreement. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick109 Rnd4 Anthony Belton
Anthony Belton in pick 109 is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick132 Rnd4 Aeneas Peebles
A premium they did not need to pay, Aeneas Peebles a notch or two before his time. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick169 Rnd5 Tommi Hill
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Tommi Hill in the Round 5 slot. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick170 Rnd5 Ben Sauls
A tidy little value on Ben Sauls in the 170th pick, a step better than break-even. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick173 Rnd5 Jonah Monheim
Jonah Monheim at No. 173 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick177 Rnd6 JJ Pegues
JJ Pegues at pick No. 177 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
