Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall

FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Chiefs: B-. If confidence were a draft strategy, the Chiefs would have aced it. Gavin Bartholomew at pick No. 249 is 105 spots clear of where he belonged. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. They banked enough surplus on Wright to cover a lot of smaller sins. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Jordan Morgan
In slot 28 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick60
Rnd2
Brenden Rice
They paid a round early for Brenden Rice in the Round 2 slot, more than the board wanted. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick91
Rnd3
Roman Wilson
A tidy bit of business in pick 91, where Roman Wilson graded well above the range. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick128
Rnd4
Jarrian Jones
Good price on Jarrian Jones in the 128th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick161
Rnd5
Jordan Jefferson
Jordan Jefferson at Round 5, Pick 25 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick171
Rnd5
Jaylen Wright
Value with a capital V on Jaylen Wright in pick No. 171, a genuine coup. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick175
Rnd5
Jaylan Ford
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jaylan Ford. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick206
Rnd6
Jared Wiley
Jared Wiley at No. 206 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick249
Rnd7
Gavin Bartholomew
They left a pile of value on the table to take Gavin Bartholomew this early at pick No. 249. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
