Good, not great, for the Colts: B-. The Colts spent real capital to be 77 picks early on Jaylon Carlies, and the board is going to hold them to it. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. However the rest shakes out, Bowers at that price is a win they earned.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
Brock Bowers
In the 15th pick they get a moveable chess piece at tight end, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick16
Rnd1
Laiatu Latu
In slot 16 they get a disruptor off the edge. A real need, handled.
Pick35
Rnd2
Adonai Mitchell
Adonai Mitchell in the 35th overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick105
Rnd4
Matt Goncalves
Matt Goncalves at pick 105 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick110
Rnd4
Tanor Bortolini
Tanor Bortolini at pick No. 110 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick128
Rnd4
Jarrian Jones
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jarrian Jones in Round 4, Pick 28. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick151
Rnd5
Anthony Gould
A clean, defensible pick in pick 151 with a little surplus value in Anthony Gould. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick163
Rnd5
Tip Reiman
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tip Reiman. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick191
Rnd6
Jaylon Carlies
They talked themselves into Jaylon Carlies at the 191st overall pick, and the board did not agree. A minor itch, scratched.
