Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureC+
The Bears kept it disciplined and banked a B-.

The Bears went off the board in a big way for Thor Griffith, 58 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.

The Farmer steal is the beam this whole class leans on. For all the activity, cornerback went untouched, which is hard to explain.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.

Pick Analysis
Pick22 Rnd1 Nick Emmanwori
In the 22nd overall pick they get a ballhawk on the back end. More want than need.
Pick39 Rnd2 JT Tuimoloau
JT Tuimoloau at Round 2, Pick 7 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick41 Rnd2 Tyler Booker
They paid sticker price for Tyler Booker in slot 41, and that is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick55 Rnd2 Aireontae Ersery
A clean, defensible pick in pick 55 with a little surplus value in Aireontae Ersery. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick72 Rnd3 Dylan Sampson
Dylan Sampson at pick No. 72 is money in the bank, a running back taken below his worth. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick90 Rnd3 Elijah Arroyo
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Elijah Arroyo at the Round 3 slot. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick138 Rnd4 Pat Bryant
Pat Bryant at the 138th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick148 Rnd5 Joshua Farmer
Taking Joshua Farmer in the 148th overall pick is close to grand larceny; an interior defensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick233 Rnd7 Chimere Dike
They barely believed it either: Chimere Dike still on the board at No. 233. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick240 Rnd7 Thor Griffith
A wild overpay on Thor Griffith in the Round 7 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick255 Rnd7 Clay Webb
Clay Webb slipping to pick No. 255 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A need, and now a little less of one.
