Draft Grade — 49ers

The 49ers won the night they stopped Knight Jr. from sliding. Grade: B-. The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The 49ers watched Demetrius Knight Jr. slide 77 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Offensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick23
Rnd1
Shemar Stewart
In No. 23 they get a premier pass rusher at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick43
Rnd2
Armand Membou
Armand Membou is a better player than the Round 2 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick54
Rnd2
Tyler Booker
Value with a capital V on Tyler Booker in Round 2, Pick 22, a genuine coup. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick75
Rnd3
Derrick Harmon
Derrick Harmon in pick No. 75 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick138
Rnd4
Demetrius Knight Jr.
Somehow Demetrius Knight Jr. was still sitting there in the 138th pick, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick139
Rnd4
Elijah Arroyo
Taking Elijah Arroyo in pick 139 is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick189
Rnd6
Mello Dotson
Mello Dotson at the 189th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick193
Rnd6
Ty Robinson
Circle this one: Ty Robinson at slot 193 is a fall that decides a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick232
Rnd7
Raheim Sanders
Raheim Sanders at No. 232 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
