FutureB-
The Chargers worked the phones like thieves and earned a B+. Whoever sat across the table from the Chargers should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Washington pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. Every board in the league had Jones lower, and that gap is the story.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Rome Odunze
In pick 11 they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick23
Rnd1
Jackson Powers-Johnson
In the 23rd overall pick they get a cornerstone up front, though they paid up to get him.
Pick37
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
They paid up for T'Vondre Sweat at the 37th pick when waiting would have done the job. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick69
Rnd3
Max Melton
They paid sticker price for Max Melton in Round 3, Pick 5, and that is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick105
Rnd4
Braelon Allen
No drama and no debate, Braelon Allen went about where he belonged in No. 105. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick110
Rnd4
Malik Washington
Malik Washington is a better player than the Round 4 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick140
Rnd5
Isaiah Adams
No edge and no loss on Isaiah Adams in pick No. 140; it is a wash and a sensible one. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick177
Rnd6
Khristian Boyd
A straight-up fair deal on Khristian Boyd at slot 177, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick181
Rnd6
Trente Jones
A premium they did not need to pay, Trente Jones a notch or two before his time. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick225
Rnd7
Myles Harden
A quiet steal in the 225th pick: Myles Harden for less than the market said. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick253
Rnd7
Josh Proctor
They read the board right and Josh Proctor was the payoff at the Round 7 slot. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
