Grand theft in No. 65: the Commanders steal Hill Jr. and grade out a C.

Somebody took the Commanders to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. The good and the questionable cancel out to a C.

If one pick saves this weekend, it is Hill Jr.. The cost of the Foster reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The Tyler Guyton pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.

A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Akheem Mesidor
They liked Akheem Mesidor enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 1, Pick 20. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick65 Rnd3 Anthony Hill Jr.
A linebacker of that caliber at pick 65 is the definition of value, full stop. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick71 Rnd3 Lee Hunter
Lee Hunter at slot 71 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick92 Rnd3 Daylen Everette
The board had Daylen Everette higher than the 92nd pick, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick104 Rnd4 Logan Jones
Logan Jones in pick No. 104 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick112 Rnd4 Zakee Wheatley
They barely believed it either: Zakee Wheatley still on the board at the 112th overall pick. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick147 Rnd5 Drew Allar
The board had cheaper options than Drew Allar at pick 147, and it noticed. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick183 Rnd6 Aaron Anderson
Aaron Anderson slid further than he should have, and slot 183 is lovely value for the wide receiver. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick187 Rnd6 Seth McGowan
A reasonable price with a little left over, Seth McGowan in pick No. 187. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick209 Rnd6 Miles Kitselman
They went early on Miles Kitselman in No. 209, and the value did not follow. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick217 Rnd7 Trey Zuhn III
This one needs a full-page explanation: Trey Zuhn III in the Round 7 slot, miles early. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick223 Rnd7 Bryce Foster
Bryce Foster at the 223rd pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
