Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB- TradesB FutureB
Nothing loud, just a tidy B for the Steelers.

You can usually follow a front office's logic. This one is harder. The Steelers spent Round 4, Pick 8 on Javon Foster while quarterback, edge rusher and other spots sat unaddressed.

They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Every board in the league had Foster lower, and that gap is the story.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 Brian Thomas Jr.
In pick 23 they get a difference-maker at receiver at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick34 Rnd2 Jackson Powers-Johnson
Jackson Powers-Johnson at slot 34 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick84 Rnd3 Max Melton
Max Melton at Round 3, Pick 20 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick108 Rnd4 Javon Foster
A want over a need in No. 108: Javon Foster adds an offensive lineman while quarterback, edge rusher and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick119 Rnd4 Tyler Davis
They took Tyler Davis at par in pick No. 119, which is nothing to complain about. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick158 Rnd5 Tykee Smith
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tykee Smith. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick178 Rnd6 Dillon Johnson
Dillon Johnson slid further than he should have, and the 178th overall pick is lovely value for the running back. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick184 Rnd6 Tip Reiman
Tip Reiman in the 184th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
