Draft Grade — 49ers

A respectable, level-headed haul for the 49ers: B-.

The Eyabi Okie-Anoma selection is the head-turner. The 49ers reached 55 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. The Mims value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.

They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Amarius Mims
Amarius Mims slid further than he should have, and the Round 1 slot is lovely value for the offensive lineman. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick63 Rnd2 Kris Abrams-Draine
They jumped the gun on Kris Abrams-Draine, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick94 Rnd3 DeWayne Carter
They paid sticker price for DeWayne Carter in the 94th overall pick, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick98 Rnd3 Malik Washington
Malik Washington in slot 98 is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick125 Rnd4 Trevor Keegan
A big swing on Trevor Keegan at pick 125, well ahead of any board in the building. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick132 Rnd4 Dylan Laube
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Dylan Laube. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick176 Rnd6 Jaylan Ford
A wild overpay on Jaylan Ford in the 176th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick209 Rnd6 Eyabi Okie-Anoma
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Eyabi Okie-Anoma well ahead of where he belonged. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick214 Rnd6 Josh Proctor
A straight-up fair deal on Josh Proctor at slot 214, value and slot in agreement. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick215 Rnd6 Logan Lee
This one needs a full-page explanation: Logan Lee in No. 215, miles early. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick249 Rnd7 Kingsley Eguakun
A real head-scratcher, Kingsley Eguakun in pick 249 is miles ahead of his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
