Draft Grade — Packers
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB FutureB-
The Packers kept it disciplined and banked a B-.

The Packers did not so much draft Devin Leary as overpay for him, 62 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. The bottom line is a respectable B-.

Getting Gore Jr. where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

They will answer for taking safety early while wide receiver, tight end and other spots went begging.

Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Chop Robinson
In pick No. 25 they get a bendy edge with upside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick58 Rnd2 Kingsley Suamataia
Kingsley Suamataia in the 58th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick66 Rnd3 Jaden Hicks
Jaden Hicks at pick 66 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick71 Rnd3 Payton Wilson
The board had Payton Wilson higher than the Round 3 slot, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick88 Rnd3 Calen Bullock
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending slot 88 on Calen Bullock with wide receiver, tight end and other spots unsolved.
Pick91 Rnd3 Zak Zinter
A reach on Zak Zinter in the 91st overall pick; the board had better options right there. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick104 Rnd4 Isaac Guerendo
Isaac Guerendo at the Round 4 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick126 Rnd4 Elijah Jones
Elijah Jones in pick 126 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick169 Rnd5 Tanor Bortolini
They reached a country mile for Tanor Bortolini at pick No. 169, and the board is aghast. It fills a real need, too.
Pick202 Rnd6 Johnny Dixon
Johnny Dixon at the 202nd pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick219 Rnd6 Nathaniel Watson
Fair-plus on Nathaniel Watson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick245 Rnd7 Devin Leary
This one needs a full-page explanation: Devin Leary in No. 245, miles early. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick255 Rnd7 Frank Gore Jr.
They will replay Frank Gore Jr. at Round 7, Pick 35 for years; that is how good the value is. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
