Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall

FutureB
Echoles should have been long gone. The Seahawks pounced, and earned a D+. Somebody took the Seahawks to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. The math is unkind, and the D+ follows.
Brahmer has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The McClain pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with wide receiver, quarterback and other spots still on the board. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
That is an interior defensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and wide receiver is still a hole.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Yhonzae Pierre
In pick 14 they get a bendy edge with upside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick55
Rnd2
Will Echoles
A top-tier interior defensive lineman at a bargain, Will Echoles in the 55th overall pick, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick86
Rnd3
Kade Pieper
Circle this one: Kade Pieper at the 86th pick is a fall that decides a draft. It fills a real need, too.
Pick101
Rnd3
Greg Johnson
The board fumbled Greg Johnson all the way to No. 101, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick111
Rnd4
Jaylen McClain
A want over a need in pick No. 111: Jaylen McClain adds a safety while wide receiver, quarterback and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick135
Rnd4
Shadre Hurst
Shadre Hurst slipping to Round 4, Pick 34 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick161
Rnd5
Justin Evans
A tidy bit of business in the 161st pick, where Justin Evans graded well above the range. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick175
Rnd5
Elijah Paige
By-the-book stuff, Elijah Paige at the Round 5 slot squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick177
Rnd5
Jermaine Mathews Jr.
Jermaine Mathews Jr. in slot 177 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Not a spot anyone had flagged, which makes it a head-scratcher.
Pick201
Rnd6
Jayden Virgin-Morgan
Nice patience on Jayden Virgin-Morgan, who had no business lasting to the 201st overall pick. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick213
Rnd6
Benjamin Brahmer
Value said wait; Benjamin Brahmer in pick 213 says they were not listening. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick245
Rnd7
C.J. Fite
A slide stopped in pick No. 245, with C.J. Fite worth more than the price. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
