After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Patriots committed. Michael Penix Jr. is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

Getting Carson where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
