Draft Grade — Browns
Overall A-
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureA+
Nobody dealt better than the Browns this weekend: A-.

The Browns torched the value chart for Akheem Mesidor, taking him 154 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. Just about everything broke right, and the A- follows.

That Hampton pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

The Brian O'Neill deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.

Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Luther Burden III and all.

Pick Analysis
Pick28 Rnd1 Luther Burden III
In pick No. 28 they get a difference-maker at receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick35 Rnd2 Jalen Milroe
A wild overpay on Jalen Milroe in the 35th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick69 Rnd3 Omarion Hampton
They robbed the room for Omarion Hampton here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick94 Rnd3 Luke Kandra
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Luke Kandra in the 94th overall pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick105 Rnd4 Jake Majors
You do not let an offensive lineman like Jake Majors reach the Round 4 slot and blink. They did not. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick167 Rnd5 Barrett Carter
Barrett Carter in No. 167 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick181 Rnd6 Akheem Mesidor
This one needs a full-page explanation: Akheem Mesidor in the 181st overall pick, miles early. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick187 Rnd6 Hunter Wohler
A conviction pick on Hunter Wohler at the 187th pick that the board grades a round light. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick214 Rnd6 Azareye'h Thomas
They jumped the gun on Azareye'h Thomas, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick253 Rnd7 Joey Slackman
A premium they did not need to pay, Joey Slackman a notch or two before his time. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
