Draft Grade — Lions
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesC+ FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Lions: B.

You can draft well and still miss the point. The Lions did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to edge rusher, which was the need that mattered most. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

Luckie has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Getting Ramsey where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick17 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In pick No. 17 they get a three-down second-level presence at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick50 Rnd2 Kamari Ramsey
Kamari Ramsey slipping to the 50th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick118 Rnd4 Trinidad Chambliss
They took Trinidad Chambliss at par in slot 118, which is nothing to complain about. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick155 Rnd5 J'Mari Taylor
A slide stopped in the 155th pick, with J'Mari Taylor worth more than the price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick203 Rnd6 Lawson Luckie
The board had cheaper options than Lawson Luckie at the Round 6 slot, and it noticed. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick222 Rnd7 PJ Williams
PJ Williams in pick 222 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick226 Rnd7 Ricardo Hallman
They liked Ricardo Hallman enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 7, Pick 10. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
