The board owed the Lions one, and it paid up: Albert Regis, the No. 163 name on the board, sitting there at pick No. 212 like a gift left on the doorstep. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

If Keenan III pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The offensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
