You can hear the double-takes from here. The Bills took Maason Smith at the Round 3 slot, roughly 39 spots before his name belonged. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D- is the result.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. For all the activity, linebacker went untouched, which is hard to explain. They will answer for taking DT-EDGE early while linebacker, interior defensive lineman and other spots went begging.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and linebacker is still a hole.
