FutureB-
The Bears found their guy under center in Williams: B-. After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Bears committed. Caleb Williams is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline.
Jackson at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. If Puni pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Caleb Williams
In the 1st overall pick they get the arm they will build around. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick27
Rnd1
Chop Robinson
In slot 27 they get a problem off the edge at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick35
Rnd2
Keon Coleman
Keon Coleman at Round 2, Pick 3 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It fills a real need, too.
Pick75
Rnd3
Dominick Puni
Dominick Puni at the 75th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick122
Rnd4
Khyree Jackson
Somehow Khyree Jackson was still sitting there in pick No. 122, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
