Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall D
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureA
A costly weekend of dealing drags the 49ers to a D.

Some picks age like wine; Trajan Jeffcoat at No. 211 will need to, sitting 97 spots clear of his grade. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through running back.

However the rest shakes out, Rosemy-Jacksaint at that price is a win they earned.

In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.

Pick Analysis
Pick28 Rnd1 Graham Barton
In pick No. 28 they get a cornerstone up front. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick36 Rnd2 Ja'Tavion Sanders
No edge and no loss on Ja'Tavion Sanders in the 36th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
Pick60 Rnd2 Edgerrin Cooper
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Edgerrin Cooper at No. 60 is the proof. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick67 Rnd3 Malachi Corley
Malachi Corley in the 67th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick94 Rnd3 Dadrion Taylor-Demerson
Dadrion Taylor-Demerson is a better player than slot 94 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick124 Rnd4 Roger Rosengarten
Roger Rosengarten at pick 124 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick131 Rnd4 Ainias Smith
The board had cheaper options than Ainias Smith at pick No. 131, and it noticed. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick133 Rnd4 Tyrone Tracy Jr.
They reached into another round for Tyrone Tracy Jr., and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick176 Rnd6 Malik Mustapha
Good price on Malik Mustapha in slot 176, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick211 Rnd6 Trajan Jeffcoat
A real head-scratcher, Trajan Jeffcoat in the 211th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick215 Rnd6 Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint
Taking Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint in the Round 6 slot is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick251 Rnd7 Taulia Tagovailoa
This one needs a full-page explanation: Taulia Tagovailoa in No. 251, miles early. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
