Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall

FutureC
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Steelers. They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Trevin Wallace, 55 picks early at the 178th overall pick.
The Wiggins value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Fisher pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with quarterback, safety and other spots still on the board.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick27
Rnd1
Graham Barton
In slot 27 they get an anchor for the offensive line. Need was not the driver here.
Pick51
Rnd2
Nate Wiggins
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Nate Wiggins in the 51st pick, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick80
Rnd3
Xavier Worthy
Xavier Worthy at pick 80 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick90
Rnd3
Mekhi Wingo
A reach for Mekhi Wingo in No. 90; a little patience would have been rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick97
Rnd3
Blake Fisher
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Blake Fisher at offensive lineman with quarterback, safety and other spots open.
Pick98
Rnd3
Malik Washington
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 98 with a little surplus value in Malik Washington. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick119
Rnd4
Cedric Gray
They did well to land Cedric Gray in the Round 4 slot, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick178
Rnd6
Trevin Wallace
A big swing on Trevin Wallace at pick 178, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick214
Rnd6
Nathan Thomas
A reach on Nathan Thomas in slot 214; the board had better options right there. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
