Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B
ValueA+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Steelers won the night they stopped Milum from sliding. Grade: B.

You could see the war room lean forward. Wyatt Milum at No. 229 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.

Leaving safety unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but safety.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Travis Hunter
In No. 21 they get a ballhawk on the outside at a price that makes it sweeter.
Pick52 Rnd2 Cam Ward
A quarterback of that caliber at pick 52 is the definition of value, full stop. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick83 Rnd3 Kenneth Grant
Kenneth Grant in slot 83 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick121 Rnd4 Ashton Jeanty
Somehow Ashton Jeanty was still sitting there in the Round 4 slot, and they pounced on premier running back value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick161 Rnd5 Jahdae Barron
You do not let a cornerback like Jahdae Barron reach the 161st pick and blink. They did not. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick223 Rnd7 Jack Bech
They barely believed it either: Jack Bech still on the board at Round 7, Pick 7. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick229 Rnd7 Wyatt Milum
They robbed the room for Wyatt Milum here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick245 Rnd7 Xavier Restrepo
Taking Xavier Restrepo in the 245th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
