Draft Grade — Saints
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureB-
The Saints let Muhammad fall and pounced. Final grade: B+.

You could see the war room lean forward. Jabbar Muhammad at Round 6, Pick 8 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Good, not great, and the B+ says as much.

They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Mykel Williams
In pick No. 14 they get a premier pass rusher at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick40 Rnd2 Derrick Harmon
They read the board right and Derrick Harmon was the payoff at the 40th pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick45 Rnd2 Jaxson Dart
They paid up for Jaxson Dart at No. 45 when waiting would have done the job. It fills a real need, too.
Pick71 Rnd3 Isaiah Bond
A tidy bit of business in Round 3, Pick 7, where Isaiah Bond graded well above the range. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick93 Rnd3 Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo in the 93rd overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick111 Rnd4 Luke Kandra
By-the-book stuff, Luke Kandra at the Round 4 slot squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick116 Rnd4 Chris Paul Jr.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Chris Paul Jr. in pick 116, plain and simple. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick130 Rnd4 Kevin Winston Jr.
Circle this one: Kevin Winston Jr. at slot 130 is a fall that decides a draft. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick186 Rnd6 Jabbar Muhammad
Jabbar Muhammad at the 186th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick254 Rnd7 Tonka Hemingway
Tonka Hemingway in pick No. 254 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
