Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesD- FutureA+
The Bears lost the trade table, and the B- tells the story.

The trade table was where it all came apart. The Bears shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.

The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Every board in the league had Van Pran lower, and that gap is the story.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.

Pick Analysis
Pick5 Rnd1 Joe Alt
In No. 5 they get protection for the quarterback. A real need, handled.
Pick9 Rnd1 Jer'Zhan Newton
In pick 9 they get a wrecking ball inside at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick37 Rnd2 Kamren Kinchens
A straight-up fair deal on Kamren Kinchens at the 37th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick69 Rnd3 Brenden Rice
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Brenden Rice. It fills a real need, too.
Pick75 Rnd3 Sedrick Van Pran
They paid a round early for Sedrick Van Pran in Round 3, Pick 11, more than the board wanted. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick110 Rnd4 Justin Eboigbe
Justin Eboigbe at the Round 4 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick122 Rnd4 Cam Hart
A reach for Cam Hart in the 122nd pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick146 Rnd5 Ben Sinnott
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Ben Sinnott in pick No. 146. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
