If confidence were a draft strategy, the Cowboys would have aced it. Clayton Smith at pick 226 is 87 spots clear of where he belonged. A weekend to file away and forget, and an F to match.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. However the rest shakes out, Stewart at that price is a win they earned. The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.

Bottom line, it will take a lot of luck to make this look better later.
