Draft Grade — 49ers

Holker should have been long gone. The 49ers pounced, and earned a B-.

When a board-topper like Dallin Holker slides to slot 176, you do not overthink it, and the 49ers did not.

They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Reaching for Gore Jr. left real value on the table behind him.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Chop Robinson
In pick 31 they get a double-digit-sack hope, and a steal at that.
Pick63 Rnd2 Kingsley Suamataia
Kingsley Suamataia in pick No. 63 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick94 Rnd3 Brenden Rice
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Brenden Rice. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick124 Rnd4 Javon Foster
Nothing to complain about; Javon Foster went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick131 Rnd4 Johnny Wilson
Johnny Wilson at slot 131 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick133 Rnd4 Roger Rosengarten
Roger Rosengarten at the Round 4 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick176 Rnd6 Dallin Holker
Dallin Holker in the 176th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The roster fit checks out.
Pick211 Rnd6 Caedan Wallace
Caedan Wallace in Round 6, Pick 36 is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick215 Rnd6 Frank Gore Jr.
They paid a round early for Frank Gore Jr. in No. 215, more than the board wanted. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick251 Rnd7 Kalen DeLoach
Kalen DeLoach in the Round 7 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A minor itch, scratched.
