Draft Grade — Commanders

FutureB-
The Commanders bled value on every deal, hence the D+. The Commanders went off the board in a big way for Shawn Murphy, 232 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. Hard to defend, and the D+ reflects that.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it.
Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The back end got a real overhaul.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.
Pick Analysis
Pick34
Rnd2
Malik Muhammad
This one needs a full-page explanation: Malik Muhammad in pick No. 34, miles early. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick65
Rnd3
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Emmanuel McNeil-Warren. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick104
Rnd4
Shawn Murphy
Shawn Murphy at slot 104 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick142
Rnd5
Jaylon Braxton
They talked themselves into Jaylon Braxton at the Round 5 slot, and the board did not agree. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick238
Rnd7
Jordan Hall
Jordan Hall in pick 238 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
