Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Steelers robbed the room for Tuten. Final grade: B.

Call it larceny. Bhayshul Tuten sat on the board until the Round 7 slot, and the Steelers did not need to be asked twice. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

That safety hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They will need Thomas to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes.

The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Walter Nolen
In slot 21 they get a disruptive interior force. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick52 Rnd2 Azareye'h Thomas
A reach on Azareye'h Thomas in Round 2, Pick 20; the board had better options right there. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick83 Rnd3 Jayden Higgins
Jayden Higgins at pick 83 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick122 Rnd4 Charles Grant
Somehow Charles Grant was still sitting there in the Round 4 slot, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick163 Rnd5 Will Howard
Will Howard in No. 163 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick225 Rnd7 Bhayshul Tuten
They barely believed it either: Bhayshul Tuten still on the board at the 225th overall pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick231 Rnd7 Jack Kiser
You do not let a linebacker like Jack Kiser reach pick No. 231 and blink. They did not. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick247 Rnd7 Tonka Hemingway
Tonka Hemingway at the 247th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
