Draft Grade — Packers
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesA- FutureB
The Packers won the night they stopped Cowing from sliding. Grade: B.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Packers watched Jacob Cowing slide 46 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

They are betting Catalon proves the room right and everyone else wrong. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.

Pick Analysis
Pick15 Rnd1 Laiatu Latu
In pick No. 15 they get a premier pass rusher at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick39 Rnd2 Taliese Fuaga
Taliese Fuaga in pick 39 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick42 Rnd2 Amarius Mims
No edge and no loss on Amarius Mims in Round 2, Pick 10; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick48 Rnd2 Calen Bullock
Calen Bullock in No. 48 is fair value, right on his grade. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick71 Rnd3 Mekhi Wingo
Mekhi Wingo at slot 71 is money in the bank, a interior defensive lineman taken below his worth. The roster fit checks out.
Pick74 Rnd3 Braelon Allen
They did well to land Braelon Allen in the Round 3 slot, just ahead of his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick82 Rnd3 Zak Zinter
Nothing to complain about; Zak Zinter went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick107 Rnd4 Tory Horton
The board had Tory Horton higher than the 107th pick, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick135 Rnd4 Cameron Ward
By-the-book stuff, Cameron Ward at pick No. 135 squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick139 Rnd5 Jamari Thrash
Good price on Jamari Thrash in the Round 5 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick185 Rnd6 Jalen Catalon
They jumped the gun on Jalen Catalon, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Need-wise, a curious use of the pick.
Pick188 Rnd6 Andrew Raym
Andrew Raym at the 188th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick217 Rnd6 Zy Alexander
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Zy Alexander in No. 217. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick219 Rnd6 Jacob Cowing
They will replay Jacob Cowing at Round 6, Pick 44 for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick228 Rnd7 Jalen Milroe
Jalen Milroe at slot 228 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
