Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall
B
ValueB
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Cardinals cashed the board's mistake on Beck: B. You could see the war room lean forward. Carson Beck at the Round 4 slot is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. Reaching for Orange left real value on the table behind him. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick10
Rnd1
Spencer Fano
In slot 10 they get a cornerstone up front. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick41
Rnd2
Anthony Hill Jr.
No edge and no loss on Anthony Hill Jr. in Round 2, Pick 9; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick72
Rnd3
Domonique Orange
Domonique Orange at pick No. 72 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The roster fit checks out.
Pick107
Rnd4
Carson Beck
They robbed the room for Carson Beck here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick151
Rnd5
Iapani Laloulu
They took Iapani Laloulu at par in the Round 5 slot, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick189
Rnd6
Evan Stewart
A straight-up fair deal on Evan Stewart at the 189th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick225
Rnd7
Miller Moss
Steal is underselling it; Miller Moss at the 225th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
