Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Cardinals kept it disciplined and banked a B-.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Cardinals did exactly that with Johnny Wilson in No. 90. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

Pritchett falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Marvin Harrison Jr.
In No. 4 they get a go-to option on the outside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick27 Rnd1 Nate Wiggins
In pick No. 27 they get a sticky cover corner at fair value. More want than need.
Pick35 Rnd2 Braden Fiske
Braden Fiske at Round 2, Pick 3 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick66 Rnd3 Payton Wilson
Payton Wilson at slot 66 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick71 Rnd3 Christian Haynes
Christian Haynes in the Round 3 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick90 Rnd3 Johnny Wilson
They reached a country mile for Johnny Wilson at pick 90, and the board is aghast. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick104 Rnd4 Mohamed Kamara
They talked themselves into Mohamed Kamara at No. 104, and the board did not agree. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick138 Rnd5 Tyler Davis
Tyler Davis at the Round 5 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick162 Rnd5 Nehemiah Pritchett
Taking Nehemiah Pritchett in the 162nd pick is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick186 Rnd6 Dillon Johnson
Dillon Johnson at pick No. 186 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick226 Rnd7 Nathan Thomas
A straight-up fair deal on Nathan Thomas at Round 7, Pick 6, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
