The Raiders cashed the board's mistake on Miller: A. The trade table was a mismatch, and the Raiders were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value.
Miller falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Anthony Hill Jr. and all.
Pick Analysis
Pick47
Rnd2
Anthony Hill Jr.
Anthony Hill Jr. slid further than he should have, and pick 47 is lovely value for the linebacker. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick60
Rnd2
Christen Miller
Somehow Christen Miller was still sitting there in the 60th overall pick, and they pounced on premier interior defensive lineman value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick67
Rnd3
D'Angelo Ponds
Nice patience on D'Angelo Ponds, who had no business lasting to the Round 3 slot. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick102
Rnd4
Omar Cooper Jr.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Omar Cooper Jr. in pick No. 102, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick117
Rnd4
Jude Bowry
Jude Bowry at No. 117 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick134
Rnd4
Billy Schrauth
Billy Schrauth in the 134th pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
