Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
Robertson should have been long gone. The Bengals pounced, and earned a B+.

Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Bengals came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close. Good, not great, and the B+ says as much.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Robertson. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

Adding Jack Jones by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick10 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In the Round 1 slot they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece. A real need, handled.
Pick39 Rnd2 Caleb Banks
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Caleb Banks at pick No. 39 is the proof. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick70 Rnd3 Michael Taaffe
They did well to land Michael Taaffe in the 70th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick109 Rnd4 C.J. Fite
C.J. Fite at the 109th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick152 Rnd5 Logan Jones
A clean, defensible pick in slot 152 with a little surplus value in Logan Jones. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick187 Rnd6 Jermaine Mathews Jr.
Jermaine Mathews Jr. in No. 187 lands just on the right side of the ledger. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick198 Rnd6 CJ Daniels
Steal is underselling it; CJ Daniels at the 198th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick221 Rnd7 Sawyer Robertson
They will replay Sawyer Robertson at the Round 7 slot for years; that is how good the value is. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
