Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall A-
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureA
The Patriots won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: A-.

The Patriots did not so much draft Austin Stogner as overpay for him, 118 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. It holds up to a second look, which is why it earns the A-.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

That Coleman pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The Puka Nacua pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.

It is a haul that will look even better come September.

Pick Analysis
Pick19 Rnd1 Laiatu Latu
In No. 19 they get a double-digit-sack hope, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick27 Rnd1 Kool-Aid McKinstry
In pick No. 27 they get a potential shutdown corner. Need was not the driver here.
Pick34 Rnd2 Brian Thomas Jr.
Brian Thomas Jr. slid further than he should have, and the Round 2 slot is lovely value for the wide receiver. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick52 Rnd2 Keon Coleman
Keon Coleman at the 52nd pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick68 Rnd3 Spencer Rattler
Spencer Rattler at Round 3, Pick 4 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick90 Rnd3 Dominick Puni
Dominick Puni in slot 90 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick102 Rnd4 Dallin Holker
They reached into another round for Dallin Holker, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick136 Rnd4 Isaiah Adams
A quiet steal in pick No. 136: Isaiah Adams for less than the market said. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick179 Rnd6 Joe Milton III
Joe Milton III in Round 6, Pick 4 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The roster fit checks out.
Pick185 Rnd6 Caedan Wallace
They did well to land Caedan Wallace in pick 185, just ahead of his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick231 Rnd7 Austin Stogner
Austin Stogner at slot 231 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
