Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall B
ValueA- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
Grand theft in pick No. 153: the Bengals steal Horton and grade out a B.

Call it larceny. Tory Horton sat on the board until the 153rd overall pick, and the Bengals did not need to be asked twice.

Huzzie has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most.

The skill positions did well by the weekend.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick17 Rnd1 Ashton Jeanty
In the Round 1 slot they get a bell-cow for the offense, and a steal at that.
Pick49 Rnd2 Jahdae Barron
A cornerback of that caliber at No. 49 is the definition of value, full stop. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick81 Rnd3 Andrew Mukuba
Andrew Mukuba in the 81st pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick119 Rnd4 Jordan Phillips
They read the board right and Jordan Phillips was the payoff at pick 119. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick153 Rnd5 Tory Horton
They will replay Tory Horton at the 153rd overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick193 Rnd6 Alijah Huzzie
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Alijah Huzzie well ahead of where he belonged. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
