Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B

The Texans turned the phones into found money: B.

There is conviction, and then there is this. The Texans took Princewill Umanmielen a full 148 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. Christian Darrisaw gives the group a proven body among the projects.

The Reese steal is the beam this whole class leans on.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick22 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In slot 22 they get a green-dot type in the middle, and a steal at that.
Pick53 Rnd2 Will Lee III
They reached into another round for Will Lee III, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick66 Rnd3 Zachariah Branch
Zachariah Branch at the Round 3 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick108 Rnd4 Earnest Greene III
Earnest Greene III in the 108th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick121 Rnd4 Princewill Umanmielen
Value said wait; Princewill Umanmielen in Round 4, Pick 21 says they were not listening. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick162 Rnd5 Aaron Anderson
They went early on Aaron Anderson in pick No. 162, and the value did not follow. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick237 Rnd7 Jordan White
A big swing on Jordan White at the Round 7 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick241 Rnd7 Jamal Haynes
Jamal Haynes at No. 241 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
