GMaster DRAFTING FOR THETexans
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Texans
Overall

ValueB
NeedB-
TradesB-
FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Texans a B-. The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Texans reached some 29 spots for Kyle Williams, and value like that does not grow back. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
They banked enough surplus on TeSlaa to cover a lot of smaller sins. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Nick Emmanwori
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get an enforcer at safety at fair value.
Pick58
Rnd2
Aireontae Ersery
Aireontae Ersery is a better player than the Round 2 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick89
Rnd3
Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson at the 89th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick127
Rnd4
Darius Alexander
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Darius Alexander. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick167
Rnd5
Kyle Williams
A big swing on Kyle Williams at pick No. 167, well ahead of any board in the building. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick243
Rnd7
Isaac TeSlaa
Circle this one: Isaac TeSlaa at No. 243 is a fall that decides a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
