The Texans did not so much draft Hayden Conner as overpay for him, 51 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

The Brooks pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with running back chief among the fixes. Trading back for volume was the quiet throughline of their weekend.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
