Draft Grade — Texans
Overall

FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Texans a B-. The Texans did not so much draft Frank Gore Jr. as overpay for him, 39 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. Running back was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick23
Rnd1
Terrion Arnold
In the 23rd overall pick they get a lockdown presence outside at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
Pick58
Rnd2
Jonah Elliss
Jonah Elliss at pick No. 58 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick90
Rnd3
Roman Wilson
Roman Wilson in No. 90 is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick123
Rnd4
Jahdae Barron
Jahdae Barron in Round 4, Pick 23 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick126
Rnd4
Frank Gore Jr.
A big swing on Frank Gore Jr. at pick 126, well ahead of any board in the building. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
