Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesC+ FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Texans for Reid: B.

Thirty-one other rooms let Karene Reid slide, and the Texans were the ones holding the card at Round 7, Pick 25. Highway robbery. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Running back was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball. The phones were busy but the ledger stayed level.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Tetairoa McMillan
In the Round 1 slot they get a difference-maker at receiver, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick58 Rnd2 Donovan Jackson
They took Donovan Jackson at par in the 58th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick79 Rnd3 Tate Ratledge
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Tate Ratledge at slot 79. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick97 Rnd3 Tai Felton
Tai Felton in Round 3, Pick 33 is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick166 Rnd5 Bhayshul Tuten
Bhayshul Tuten slid further than he should have, and the 166th pick is lovely value for the running back. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick187 Rnd6 JJ Pegues
No drama and no debate, JJ Pegues went about where he belonged in pick 187. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick236 Rnd7 Caleb Ransaw
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Caleb Ransaw in No. 236, plain and simple. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick241 Rnd7 Karene Reid
Karene Reid in pick No. 241 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
