Draft Grade — Texans

Larceny in pick 236 lands the Texans a B, Rogers and all. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Texans were there to profit. Caleb Rogers, the No. 205 name on the board, should have been long gone before the Round 7 slot. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
Every board in the league had Conner lower, and that gap is the story. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Job largely done: running back settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered. The skill positions did well by the weekend.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Matthew Golden
In the 25th pick they get a No. 1 receiver, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick58
Rnd2
TreVeyon Henderson
A clean, defensible pick in pick 58 with a little surplus value in TreVeyon Henderson. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick79
Rnd3
Jack Bech
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jack Bech at the 79th overall pick is the proof. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick89
Rnd3
Omarr Norman-Lott
Value with a capital V on Omarr Norman-Lott in No. 89, a genuine coup. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick166
Rnd5
Logan Brown
Logan Brown slipping to the Round 5 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick236
Rnd7
Caleb Rogers
Caleb Rogers at slot 236 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It fills a real need, too.
Pick241
Rnd7
Hayden Conner
A wild overpay on Hayden Conner in pick No. 241, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
