Roe DRAFTING FOR THETexans
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Texans
Overall
B
ValueB+

FutureB-
The Texans won the night they stopped Judkins from sliding. Grade: B. You could see the war room lean forward. Quinshon Judkins at the Round 3 slot is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with running back chief among the fixes.
They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Tyler Warren
In slot 25 they get a red-zone target to build around, and a steal at that.
Pick58
Rnd2
Jonah Savaiinaea
A tidy bit of business in the 58th pick, where Jonah Savaiinaea graded well above the range. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick79
Rnd3
Tre Harris
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Tre Harris in pick 79, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick89
Rnd3
Quinshon Judkins
Circle this one: Quinshon Judkins at No. 89 is a fall that decides a draft. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick166
Rnd5
Seth McLaughlin
No drama and no debate, Seth McLaughlin went about where he belonged in the 166th overall pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick236
Rnd7
Isaac TeSlaa
A reasonable price with a little left over, Isaac TeSlaa in Round 7, Pick 20. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick241
Rnd7
Cam Jackson
Cam Jackson slipping to pick No. 241 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
