The steal of the weekend belongs to the Texans and Brooks: B.

Somebody in slot 236 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Texans sat still while Tahj Brooks, the No. 199 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.

The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They will need Wilson to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

Running back is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

In No. 25 they get a security blanket over the middle at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.

They liked Dylan Fairchild enough to skip the value, taking him in the 89th pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.

A reach on Dont'e Thornton Jr. in pick 166; the board had better options right there. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.

You do not let a running back like Tahj Brooks reach pick No. 236 and blink. They did not. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.

A safety of that caliber at the 241st overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
