FutureB-
The Texans cashed the board's mistake on Brooks: B+. The rest of the league will want that one back. Tahj Brooks tumbling to the Texans in the 241st overall pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
They left with running back solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The Coleman Shelton pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick26
Rnd1
Walter Nolen
Walter Nolen at the Round 1 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick58
Rnd2
Jonah Savaiinaea
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jonah Savaiinaea at the 58th pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick79
Rnd3
Elic Ayomanor
Elic Ayomanor in No. 79 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick89
Rnd3
Quinshon Judkins
Quinshon Judkins in slot 89 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick90
Rnd3
Isaiah Bond
Value with a capital V on Isaiah Bond in pick 90, a genuine coup. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick166
Rnd5
Seth McLaughlin
By-the-book stuff, Seth McLaughlin at Round 5, Pick 28 squarely in line with his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick236
Rnd7
Luke Lachey
The board fumbled Luke Lachey all the way to pick No. 236, and they scooped it up. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick241
Rnd7
Tahj Brooks
Steal is underselling it; Tahj Brooks at the 241st overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
