Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB
No fireworks, just a tidy B for the Texans.

Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Hayden Conner at pick No. 226 is 45 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

The Ransaw pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.

Running back is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Tyler Warren
In No. 25 they get a security blanket over the middle, outstanding value to boot.
Pick79 Rnd3 Donovan Jackson
They let Donovan Jackson come to them and pounced at the 79th pick. The roster fit checks out.
Pick89 Rnd3 Isaiah Bond
Isaiah Bond at the 89th overall pick is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick95 Rnd3 Elijah Arroyo
Circle this one: Elijah Arroyo at Round 3, Pick 31 is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick166 Rnd5 Bhayshul Tuten
They read the board right and Bhayshul Tuten was the payoff at pick 166. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick226 Rnd7 Hayden Conner
Value said wait; Hayden Conner in slot 226 says they were not listening. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick236 Rnd7 Caleb Ransaw
Steal is underselling it; Caleb Ransaw at pick 236 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick241 Rnd7 Kain Medrano
Kain Medrano in No. 241 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It fills a real need, too.
Pick251 Rnd7 Isaac TeSlaa
Isaac TeSlaa in slot 251 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick257 Rnd7 Tonka Hemingway
A straight-up fair deal on Tonka Hemingway at Round 7, Pick 41, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
