Roe DRAFTING FOR THETexans
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Texans
Overall
B
ValueB+
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Texans let Harris fall and pounced. Final grade: B. The one they had to fix is still broken. The Texans left edge rusher untouched, and that omission hangs over an otherwise reasonable haul.
On value alone, Harris makes the weekend a net positive. They left with running back solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Matthew Golden
In the Round 1 slot they get a go-to option on the outside, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick58
Rnd2
Jonah Savaiinaea
A tidy bit of business in the 58th overall pick, where Jonah Savaiinaea graded well above the range. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick79
Rnd3
Tre Harris
They robbed the room for Tre Harris here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick89
Rnd3
Tate Ratledge
Tate Ratledge at No. 89 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick166
Rnd5
Bhayshul Tuten
Bhayshul Tuten slid further than he should have, and Round 5, Pick 28 is lovely value for the running back. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick236
Rnd7
Alijah Huzzie
Taking Alijah Huzzie in pick 236 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick241
Rnd7
Jamon Dumas-Johnson
No edge and no loss on Jamon Dumas-Johnson in the 241st overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
