Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
Lambert-Smith should have been long gone. The Texans pounced, and earned a B.

You could see the war room lean forward. KeAndre Lambert-Smith at Round 7, Pick 27 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. Running back was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Tetairoa McMillan
In pick No. 25 they get a home-run threat at receiver at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick58 Rnd2 Colston Loveland
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Colston Loveland in the 58th overall pick, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
Pick86 Rnd3 Dylan Sampson
Dylan Sampson at the Round 3 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick89 Rnd3 Ozzy Trapilo
Ozzy Trapilo at pick 89 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick125 Rnd4 Jake Majors
A straight-up fair deal on Jake Majors at the 125th pick, value and slot in agreement. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick176 Rnd5 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
No drama and no debate, Dont'e Thornton Jr. went about where he belonged in Round 5, Pick 38. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick236 Rnd7 Dante Trader Jr.
Dante Trader Jr. in slot 236 is fair value, right on his grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick241 Rnd7 Jamon Dumas-Johnson
They took Jamon Dumas-Johnson at par in No. 241, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick243 Rnd7 KeAndre Lambert-Smith
KeAndre Lambert-Smith in Round 7, Pick 27 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
