Draft Grade — Texans

FutureB-
The Texans let Henderson fall into their laps, and walked away with a B+. Whoever sat across the table from the Texans should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B+.
However the rest shakes out, Henderson at that price is a win they earned. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The cost of the Wilson reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
Job largely done: running back settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick26
Rnd1
Emeka Egbuka
In the Round 1 slot they get a weapon on the perimeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick58
Rnd2
Jack Bech
A reach on Jack Bech in pick 58; the board had better options right there. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick79
Rnd3
TreVeyon Henderson
You do not let a running back like TreVeyon Henderson reach the 79th pick and blink. They did not. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick89
Rnd3
Donovan Jackson
The board fumbled Donovan Jackson all the way to No. 89, and they scooped it up. It fills a real need, too.
Pick90
Rnd3
Jared Wilson
They paid up for Jared Wilson at the 90th overall pick when waiting would have done the job. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick166
Rnd5
Mitchell Evans
Circle this one: Mitchell Evans at slot 166 is a fall that decides a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick236
Rnd7
Carson Vinson
They read the board right and Carson Vinson was the payoff at Round 7, Pick 20. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick241
Rnd7
Cam Jackson
Nice patience on Cam Jackson, who had no business lasting to the 241st pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
