Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B+
ValueB+ NeedB TradesA- FutureB+
The Texans did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B+.

You can draft well and still miss the point. The Texans did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to edge rusher, which was the need that mattered most.

That is a tight end worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.

They left with running back solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Tyler Warren
They let Tyler Warren come to them and pounced at the 31st overall pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick66 Rnd3 TreVeyon Henderson
A slide stopped in slot 66, with TreVeyon Henderson worth more than the price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick79 Rnd3 Elijah Arroyo
A clean, defensible pick in the 79th pick with a little surplus value in Elijah Arroyo. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick89 Rnd3 Ozzy Trapilo
Ozzy Trapilo in No. 89 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick166 Rnd5 Damien Martinez
Damien Martinez at pick 166 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick236 Rnd7 Ricky White III
Value with a capital V on Ricky White III in the Round 7 slot, a genuine coup. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick241 Rnd7 Isaac TeSlaa
They paid sticker price for Isaac TeSlaa in pick No. 241, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
